How to Use our 3D Mould

How to Use Your 3D Mould

We know how much this piece means to you, and we want to make sure the process of capturing your print feels easy and enjoyable — not stressful. Your mould kit has everything you need, and with just a little care and patience, you’ll have a beautiful impression ready to send back to us in no time.

What's in Your Kit

Your kit will contain two separate sachets of putty — one white, one coloured. When combined, these create the moulding material used to capture your print. You’ll also find full instructions, and return packaging to send your completed mould back to us safely.

Step-by-Step Instructions

For Adult Fingerprints

  1. Prepare your hands — wash and dry your hands thoroughly before you begin. Warm hands work best, so run them under warm water for a minute or two beforehand.
  2. Mix the putty — take equal amounts from each sachet and knead them together firmly until the colour is completely uniform with no streaks. Work quickly — once mixed, you have only a few minutes before the putty begins to set.
  3. Roll into a ball — once fully combined, roll the putty into a smooth, even ball and flatten it slightly into a disc shape.
  4. Press your finger in — press the pad of your finger slowly and firmly into the centre of the putty disc. Make sure the full pad of your finger makes contact and press to a depth that feels comfortable.
  5. Hold still — keep your finger completely still for around 60 seconds. Try not to rock, twist or wiggle your finger while the putty is setting.
  6. Lift straight up — when the time is up, lift your finger slowly and directly upward. You should see a clear, detailed impression of your fingerprint.
  7. Check your impression — look for the fine ridges and lines of your print. If you’re happy with it, leave it to set fully before packaging it up and returning it to us.

For Babies & Young Children

We know little ones don’t always like to sit still — so take a deep breath, and don’t worry if it takes a couple of attempts!

  1. Choose a calm moment — try to capture the print when your baby or child is settled, sleepy or distracted. After a feed or during a quiet activity can work well.
  2. Mix the putty quickly — follow the same mixing steps as above, but work swiftly. Once the putty is ready, you’ll want to act while your little one is cooperative.
  3. Gently press their hand or foot — hold the putty disc steady and gently press your baby’s finger, hand or foot into it. Try to keep their limb as still as possible and press evenly across the surface.
  4. Hold for 60 seconds — this can feel like a long time with a wriggly little one! Having a second pair of hands nearby can make all the difference.
  5. Lift away carefully — ease the putty away gently rather than pulling sharply.
  6. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect — a little movement is completely normal with babies and young children. We’re experienced in working with impressions from little ones, and we’ll always do our very best with what we receive. If we have any concerns about the quality, we’ll be in touch before we begin.

For Pets — Paw Prints

Capturing a paw print from your furry friend can be a little unpredictable, but it’s absolutely worth it!

  1. Choose a relaxed moment — after a walk or a meal, when your pet is calm and settled, is usually the best time to try.
  2. Mix and prepare the putty — follow the standard mixing instructions to create your putty disc.
  3. Gently press the paw — hold your pet’s paw and press it firmly and evenly into the putty, making sure the full pad makes contact.
  4. Hold steady — keep the paw still for around 60 seconds. A treat or a little distraction from someone nearby can help!
  5. Release carefully — lift the paw away slowly and check the impression. Claw marks and all — they’re part of what makes your piece so unique and personal.
